If you're at all curious as to who is putting this web site together...
WHO AM I?
I've been a Drummer for over 40 years. The first Rock Concert I ever attended was The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1969. I've played music and attended countless concerts ever since.
I've studied and taught music for many years, majoring in music at California State University Sacramento in the 70's. I even had a gig with The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra in 1976. I've played with many groups over the years. My interests lie in Blues and Classic Rock. Photography has always been a hobby of mine. In the last few years I've combined the two passions by taking more and better pictures of the shows I attend.
Years ago I used a little "Instamatic" camera. You couldn't tell if it was a Symphony Orchestra or Electric Light Orchestra on stage with those shots. At the end of 2004 I stepped up to a Canon Digital Rebel. Since development costs were no longer a factor, I gradually started taking more and more pictures until I found I was shooting around 250 or more shots per show. (If you do anything enough, you can't help but get better at it!) In May of 2008 I upped the anti again by getting a Canon XSi. Sweet! Going forward I expect even better results.
Launching this website is my way of doing two things: 1) Sharing my work with others who may find what I do interesting, and 2) hopefully finding a way to pay for this hobby!
I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but with all the time I've spent on stage, I know when and where to take the shot. I strive to capture the essence and emotion of each performance.
So, please take a look at my offerings. If you are into Blues or Classic Rock artists, you might find something here that you like. If not for yourself, maybe you will find a gift for a music lover or musician in your life.
Thanks for visiting,
Nick
