Yellowstone Wildlife : In September of 2011 I was fortunate enough to spend a week in the Yellowstone National Park area. I was hopeful to get a few pictures of the wildlife. What I was able to shoot exceeded my hopes. This is the tip of the iceburg. I recommend the slideshow tab over to the right side of the screen.

Steve Miller 2011 : Steve Miller and his band playing at Harveys Outdoor Amphitheater at Lake Tahoe, July 2011. This was an excellent performance. Classic songs...excellent sound...warm interaction. The audience had a respectable proportion of young faces in it, which was nice to see. Music like Steve Millers is timeless.

Alice Cooper 2012 : Alice Cooper and his band delivered a great performance at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno this past Sunday evening. As a photographer and music lover I could not get enough. For Alice to still be doing this kind of show at 64 years old is amazing. Some shows are on back to back nights too. I guess you're as old as you feel!

Leon Russell 2012 : At 70 years old Leon Russell has more energy in his performance than would be expected. He came out and launched into a string of up tempo, high energy songs for close to 20 minutes before he took a breather. Having seen him several times, I know this to be his norm. What has changed in recent years is he takes time to talks to the audience. We all love to hear our musical heroes share a story or two, and he didn't disappoint. He shared stories from his youth playing in the Baptist Church, as well as a time with Bob Dylan, who I just saw last week (although he didn’t name him by name), discussing song writing, at which point he launched into A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall. About two thirds of the way through the show he soloed for about 10 to 15 minutes on some tunes including the introspective Magic Mirror. From then to the end of the show the mood, tempo, and energy ramped up until it was time for Leon to call it a night. The crowd was enthusiastic and responsive to his performance. There was no encore, but hey, he’s 70! At least he showed up!

Roy Rogers and The Delta Rhythm Kings : Roy Rogers and The Delta Rhythm Kings recently played at Harrah's South Lake Tahoe. It was an incredible performance. Joining him on stage is Carlos Reyes on harp and fiddle. Being able to sit only two rows back it was amazing to watch his hands close up. He is highly thought of throughout the music industry. “Roy Rogers means the modern master in the art of slide guitar…His versatility with the technique is nothing short of astonishing.” ~ All Music Guide

YES : YES played The Silver Legacy March 9th to a sold out audience. Though they have some years on them, they still put ona good show and played difficult songs quite well. It took a few minutes for them to get warmed up, but once they did, they nailed it. Their current singer was spot on with Jon Anderson's stylings. Get well Jon! Rest in peace, Peter Banks

Jackson Browne : Jackson Browne played The Silver Legacy in Reno in mid-February. He is a master storyteller and a very accomplished acoustic guitarist. He was very engaging with the audience, and put on a very good show.

This has got to be one of the most talent laden quartets in music today. Unbelievable is the best word I can associate with them. It was a jaw dropping performance from beginning to end. I feel honored to have been allowed to shoot them.

Gregg Allman 2013 : Gregg Allman performed at Harrahs Lake Tahoe, January 2013. He started out with I'm 'No Angel' and finished up with 'One Way Out'. He looks and sounds great for being 66 years old. I look older! As you can see, he had sheet music to help keep things on track. Other than forgetting some words in 'I'm No Angel', I think he didn't wiss a beat. He even giggled at that one.

Wine Country Road Trip : We recently drove from Carson City to the wine country in Amador County. I decided to shoot pictures through the windows while driving (actually, I was the passenger) using a high shutter speed to see what I could get. Almost all of these are taken that way. These are for my school friends who no longer live in this area.

Canadian Rockies, Part 3 : This is the last of my pictures from our Canadian trip. It finishes up Icefields Parkway and then the next day we go to the top of Mount Revelstoke and take a walk around what they call The Meadows In The Sky. A beautiful area.

Canadian Rockies Part 2 : More from our Canadian Trip last August. On this day(s) we went for a drive up to glacier country on the Icefields Parkway all the way up to the Columbia Glacier. I can't remember what all the glaciers were named. There are a few pictures in here more than once because I was playing with them and didn't know which version I liked better.

Joe Walsh : Joe Walsh played to a near sold out house Friday at the Silver Legacy in Reno. He sang great, played great, and looked great. I had flashbacks to playing his songs from The James Gang in school back in 1969. Yes, that was a looong time ago.
In January 1968 he replaced Glen Schwartz as lead guitarist for the James Gang. Walsh proved to be the band's star attraction, noted for his innovative rhythm playing and creative guitar riffs. In particular he was known for hot-wiring the pickups on his electric guitars to create his trademark "attack" sound. In December 1974, Walsh released an official solo album, So What and in March 1976, a live set, You Can't Argue with a Sick Mind. These would be his last solo albums until 1978. On December 20, 1975 he joined the Eagles as Bernie Leadon's replacement, and the rest is history. (courtesy of Wikipedia)

Canadian Rockies, Part 1 : We recently took a trip to the Canadian Rockies at Banff, Canada. It was breathtaking. We spent a week driving around the mountains taking pictures, and eating in great restaurants. I didn't take pictures of the food. Here are pictures from the first couple days.

Joe Cocker and Huey Lewis at Harveys : This was a great double bill put on at Harveys Lake Tahoe August 17th, 2012. Two iconic bands on the same stage. This was also the 43rd anniversary (to the day) of when Joe Cocker played at Woodstock.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse : If you like it rough, raunchy, a little dirty, really hard, loud, and poetic, catch Neil Young and Crazy Horse next time the opportunity presents itself. Amazing performance. It was like being invited into his living room to watch a practice session. They played for almost two hours at Harveys Outdoor Amphitheater at Lake Tahoe. Due to photography being limited to shooting from the sound booth about 150+feet away, there are no close up shots.

Don Henley : Don Henley played a great set at The Reno Events Center in June of 2012. Since I was only allowed to shoot from the sound board there's not a lot to share, but here they are.
It was a night of hits from the past ending with Hotel California and Desperado.

Huey Lewis and The News : New Years Eve Eve 2011 - Huey Lewis and The News raised the roof at the Silver Legacy in Reno. Huey was at the top of his game. He engaged the audience like few artists do these days. It was a fun and refreshing show. Sold out too, I might add. They played a combination of their hits and a selection of Memphis Blues hits from the vaults of Stax Records. If you get a chance to see the band...do it.

Cheetah Run at Animal Ark, Reno : These pictures were taken at one of the Animal Arks Cheetah Runs, a special event that is a sight to behold. Visit their site (below) to see when the next one is coming up.
Animal Ark, a non-profit organization, is a wildlife sanctuary and education center. The mission of Animal Ark is to inspire environmental stewardship through wildlife education - and entertainment! Since 1981, Animal Ark has provided a safe haven for injured, abandoned and otherwise non-releasable wildlife. Animal Ark is open six days a week to the public and offers special events every month. An incredible show. Big in every sense of the word. The first item here is a 22 second video just showing the immense scope of the stage as seen from the back of the ballpark. All shots were taken from the third level of the park. Closeups are of the videos projected on the wall. It was an amazing show.

Road Trip - Santa Fe to Yellowstone : This past fall (2011) we drove from Santa Fe to Yellowstone. I shared a few galleries of pictures from that trip, but here are some road pictures that didn't quite fit into the themes of the galleries.

Arches National Park : Dawn at Arches National Park in Moab Utah. The first and last light of the day is the best light for seeing these formations.

Yellowstone : In September of 2011 we spent a week in Yellowstone National Park. Established in 1872, Yellowstone National Park is America's first national park. Located in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, it is home to a large variety of wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, bison, and elk. Preserved within Yellowstone National Park are Old Faithful and a collection of the world's most extraordinary geysers and hot springs, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. It is also the most thermally active place on earth. My pictures don't do it justice.

George Thorogood and The Destroyers : Playing Harrahs, Lake Tahoe, March 2012
George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers have released sixteen studio albums, including two that were certified Platinum and six that have been certified Gold. The band has sold fifteen million albums worldwide. The band is credited with the early success of Rounder Records.
This show was fantastic. George sang great, played great, had fun, and engaged the audience warmly. A show well worth the price of admission, and then some.

San Diego - Balboa Park : Balboa Park began as 1400 acres of land set aside in 1868 by San Diego civic leaders. Known then as “City Park”, the scrub-filled mesa that overlooked present day Downtown San Diego sat without formal landscaping or development for more than 20 years.(Today the Park's total land parcel has been reduced to 1,200 acres.)The first steps in Park beautification were made in 1892, largely due to the contributions of Kate Sessions. Sessions offered to plant 100 trees a year within the Park as well as donate trees and shrubs around San Diego in exchange for 32 acres of land within the Park boundaries to be used for her commercial nursery. Several popular species, including the birds of paradise, queen palm and poinsettia were introduced into the Park’s horticulture because of Sessions’ early efforts. In fact, many of her original trees are alive and visible today. It is no wonder that Kate Sessions earned the title “The Mother of Balboa Park” at the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition

Keb Mo : Keb Mo playing at Harrahs Southshore Room in August, 2011. He and his band put on a great show this night. Very tasty and tight. By the ende of the show the whole house was on it's feet. Keb Mo is a three–time Grammy Award winner for Best Contemporary Blues Album; and a key figure in the acclaimed 2003 PBS series Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues.

Dave Mason 2011 : The outdoor shots are Dave Mason at Harveys Outdoor Amphitheater at Lake Tahoe in July, 2011. The indoor shots are at The Knitting Factory in Reno, February 2011.
Mason has played and recorded with many of the era's most notable musicians, including Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Fleetwood Mac and Cass Elliot. Mason's best known song is "Feelin' Alright", recorded by Traffic in 1968 and covered by dozens of artists, including Joe Cocker, who had a major hit with the song in 1969. Dave and his band played an incredible set that took me back to the early days of my musicianship. It's a must see show. (portion copied from Wikipedia)

Steve Vai Whirlybird : At the recent "Experience Hendrix" show at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Steve Vai hurled his guitar around his body and spun around after it. I thought it was a great move. Fortunately I was in the right place at the right time and was able to take these pictures of it. If you click on an image it will enlarge. Rick is a Sax player with an extensive background playing professionally with a multitude of notable musicians. He is also the hub and orchestrator of several 'jam nights' all over Reno and Carson City. I sit in on his Friday night jams in Carson City at the High Sierra Brewing Company, but does anybody take my picture. NOOO!!!
Steve Wall, founding member of The Beer Dawgs out of Sacramento was the guest this night. Steve and I go back to when he had long hair and a black beard.

This performance was incredibly tight and articulate. The performance effectively recreated some of the most technically challenging Rock and Roll ever put on paper. Frank even joined in on three songs thanks to audio / video mixing.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy 2011 : Big Bad Voodoo Daddy did it again at Harrahs Lake Tahoe. This show was April 2011. You can't help but have a good time listening to these guys.
The band was originally formed in Ventura, California in 1989 by leader Scotty Morris. The Band was named Big Bad Voodoo Daddy after a fateful meeting with blues guitar legend Albert Collins at one of his concerts. "He signed my poster 'To Scotty, the big bad voodoo daddy'", Morris explains. Boston put on a hell of a show. Great sound..great performance..great photo opps! It's obvious that they decided to 'give the crowd what they want'. They set themselves up for good photographs all through the show. I took almost 400 pictures. I couldn't help myself.

The Whitney Myer Band is a family band made up of Whitney Myer, father Scott Myer, Uncle Fred Myer, and Gia Torcaso. It started in the ’60’s when the two brothers picked up a few instruments and started jamming with neighborhood kids in the San Fransisco East Bay Area. Throughout the ’70’s, ’80’s and ’90’s, they played with nationally touring bands such as Dave Mason, The Commander Cody Band and more recently with The Mudsharks. (Read more on their website).

Tioga Pass : I took these pictures on a birthday trip up Tioga Pass in 2006. Unfortunately, my camera was set wrong for the conditions and it was not that clean, so they are not what they could have been. I'll have to go back!

New Mexico 2010 : We recently visited Santa Fe and the surrounding areas again. Here are some pictures from that trip. Considering the time of year and the train trip we took through the hills, there are a lot of shots of the trees turning color. The sunset pictures are enhanced by smoke from a controlled burn going on.

Carson City : These are a few shots taken on the west side of Carson City recently. These were taken at the end of the fall change of colors, just before the wind really started taking the leaves away.

Sonora Pass : These were taken on a drive through the Sonora Pass in California recently on Highway 108. Most of these scenes are not visible from the road, If you like these kinds of vistas it makes for a nice day trip (assuming you're in Northern California or Nothern Nevada).

Gov't Mule : Gov't Mule at The Knitting Factory, Reno
When The Allman Brothers Band reformed in 1989, Warren Haynes was added on lead guitar and Allen Woody joined on bass guitar. Haynes, Woody, and former Dickey Betts drummer Matt Abts came together as Gov't Mule during Allman Brothers breaks. They released their debut album Gov't Mule in 1995, which was followed by Live from Roseland Ballroom, released in 1996.When The Allman Brothers Band were not forthcoming with any new material, Haynes and Woody left to concentrate full-time on Gov't Mule in 1997. Dose, their second studio effort, was released in early 1998. In February, 2000, the band released Life Before Insanity, to critical praise, and although the band had already experienced previous successes, they anticipated a greater commercial success with this album. Unfortunately, Allen Woody was found dead in New York City in August of that year. Feat’s story began in 1969 when songwriter, performer, multi-instrumentalist, and all around colorful character Lowell George, formerly of Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention, set out to form his own band -- at Zappa’s suggestion. The brilliant and often idiosyncratic George connected with keyboard master Bill Payne, and, along with drummer Richie Hayward and Roy Estrada, founded Little Feat. They were soon signed to Warner Bros., where Little Feat, in various configurations, would remain for twelve of their sixteen albums. Hoover Dam - New Bridge : The new bridge spanning the Colorado River at Hoover Dam is an amazing undertaking. I've been driving over the dam on occasion since 2005. I thought it might be intersting to share some of those pictures all together in one gallery. The new road is not open yet, but it looks like it's getting close.

Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadors : McClain was born Ronnie Joe McClain, but was nicknamed "Antsy" by a junior highschool football coach because of his high energy. Antsy performs solo and with a variety of talented musicians known as The Trailer Park Troubadors. This performance was photographed at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City in September 2010.

And we had them here in Carson City playing "Fridays at 3rd Street". They played August 20th next to Firkin' and Fox to a very enthusiastic crowd. Tight, tuned, and professional...what else can you ask for!

The BoDeans : The BoDeans were formed in Waukesha, Wisconsin in 1983 by Kurt Neumann (vocals & electric guitar) and Sam Llanas (vocals & acoustic guitar). In 1985, after adding a drummer and a bassist, the band signed a contract with Slash/Warner Records and recorded their first album. These pictures were taken at the John Ascuaga's Nugget show in Sparks Nevada in July 2010.

Sammy Hagar and The Waboritas : In 1968, Hagar joined his first professional group, the Johnny Fortune Band, as a vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Hagar was also in some other pre-Montrose bands including Skinny, Justice Brothers, Dustcloud, Cotton, Jimmy, and Manhole. Hagar's first major success came from his work with the group Montrose on their debut and second albums, including the Hagar-penned song "Bad Motor Scooter". In 1983–84 Sammy Hagar and Neal Schon formed the supergroup HSAS. After parting ways with vocalist David Lee Roth, the remaining members of the band Van Halen contacted many potential replacements. In July 1985, given Eddie Van Halen's appreciation of Montrose and his car mechanic's suggestion, the band auditioned and quickly hired Hagar to fill the opening. Sammy currently tours with his two bands, Sammy Hagar and the Waboritas and Chickenfoot. (mostly from Wikipedia)

In addition to piano, the young musician learned to play the clarinet, trombone and harmonica, and he loved to sing. He discovered his stepfather's guitar and became serious about it in his early teens when a guitarist from North Carolina moved in next door and taught him the various styles of Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker and Jimmy Reed and other titans of Delta and Chicago blues. ..

Tim Barnes and Friends : Tim is a Sacramento favorite who's been playing all over since the early '70s. He is a founding member of the Bay Area band, Stoneground. They were know for their outstanding live performances and they toured America and Europe as part of Warner Brothers' Medicine Ball Caravan in the early 70's. I becamed familiar with Tim while he was playing with Mick Martin and The Blues Rockers. This photo gallery was taken in Sparks Nevada on a rescent appearance playing to a packed house.

Blues At The Lake (Tahoe) : The Mannish Boys were first up. Assembled from the cream of the crop of today’s blues veterans and young bloods, the flexible and rotating cast of vigorous musicians and entertainers keep things interesting and fresh.
Elvin Bishop was next. Growing up in the 1940s on a farm in Iowa with a loving but non musical family, Elvin seldom heard music as a kid. "This was before TV," Elvin says. When rock and roll started up in the mid-'50s, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and Little Richard showed up on white radio.
Mavis Staples followed Elvin Bishop. Mavis Staples began her career with her family group in 1950. Initially singing locally at churches and appearing on a weekly radio show.
Then came Jimmy Johnson. His first solo material appeared on Alligator Records and Delmark Records in 1978-79, when he was fifty years old. His career continued to pick up until December 2, 1988, when his touring van crashed in Indiana, killing his keyboardist St. James Bryant and bassist Larry Exum. Johnson was injured and took an extended hiatus from music, but returned to record for Verve Records in 1994. In 2002 he cut a record with his brother Syl.
Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater was next. A Chicago legend, Clearwater is an intense, flamboyant blues-rocking showman. He’s equally comfortable playing the deepest, most heartfelt blues or rocking, good-time party music. DownBeat said, “Left-hander Eddy Clearwater is a forceful six-stringer...He lays down some gritty West Side shuffles and belly-grinding slow blues that highlight his raw chops, soulful vocals, and earthy, humorous lyrics.”
Over the course of his career, guitarist/vocalist Lonnie Brooks has come a long way. From his early days backing zydeco pioneer Clifton Chenier to his years as a hit-producing Gulf Coast rock and rolling R&B singer to his emergence in Chicago as an innovative blues man in his own right, Lonnie shaped a signature sound and style.

Kevin Costner and Modern West : The show began with an eight-minute video montage of clips from many of Costner’s films, including “Field of Dreams” and “Dances with Wolves.” He then appeared from the back of the room, walking up an aisle and shaking hands on his way to the stage. Throughout his roughly 90-minute set Friday Costner sang a mix of songs from Modern West’s debut album “Untold Truths” and new songs. (Taken from the Reno Gazette-Journal review.)

Krall was born into a musical family in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Her father Jim Krall's large record collection helped to expose the young Krall to jazz legends. At age seventeen she won a scholarship from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In Nanaimo, her playing attracted the attention of famed bass player Ray Brown and drummer Jeff Hamilton. After hearing her play, Brown and Hamilton persuaded Krall to move to Los Angeles, and study with pianist Jimmy Rowles, with whom she began to sing. Riley B. King (born September 16, 1925), known by the stage name B.B. King, is an American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter acclaimed for his expressive singing and guitar playing. King was born in Itta Bena, Mississippi, a small town near Indianola, Mississippi. His parents were Alfred King and Nora Ella King. While singing in a local gospel group, at the age of twelve Riley bought his first guitar for $15.00. Many of King's early recordings were produced by Sam Phillips, who later founded Sun Records.

Mikeypalooza II - The Benefit for Michael Ray : A BAND OF BROTHERS
For the second time in as many years Michael Ray, singer / songwriter and bass player in Terrapin Road, has been overwhelmed by medical bills resulting from efforts to save his life, and for the second time a band of brothers has come together to lend a hand. On April 26th the community of musicians and music lovers in the Reno / Sparks / Carson City area has come to the aid of a brother in need. Sidelines Bar in Sparks opened it's doors for an event of music and fundraising for Michael and his wife Elaine. These are the pictures.

The Tubes is a collection of high school friends from Phoenix, Arizona. The core band membership remained largely intact: Fee Waybill (real name John Waldo Waybill) (vocals), Roger Steen (guitar), Prairie Prince (real name Charles L. Prince) (drums),and Rick Anderson (bass). Showbiz excess was a common theme of the band's early work, with Waybill sometimes assuming the on-stage persona of Quay Lewd (a pun on Quaalude), a drunk, drugged-out, barely coherent lead singer, decked out with flashing glasses and impossibly tall platform shoes. "White Punks on Dope", from their debut album, was an absurd anthem of wretched excess, and a tribute to their rich, white teenage fan base in San Francisco.

Steve Miller has the credentials to be one of the world's foremost blues or jazz musicians, but he's quite content to be the Joker. "What better job is there?" he asks rhetorically.

The 1973 smash single and album "The Joker" not only supercharged his career but also gave him an identity ("a picker and a grinner, and a lover and a sinner") in the brave new world of "rockin' stereo FM" -- one station in every city playing several cuts per album -- a slightly more hip Top 40 than the AM dinosaurs. The Steve Miller Band was perfect for this format, along with Steely Dan, the Eagles, Peter Frampton and a handful of others.

James Hunter (born October 2, 1962) is a Grammy-nominated English R&B musician and soul singer originally from Colchester, Essex. Hunter's career began with a band called, "Howlin' Wilf and the Vee-Jays," who released one album in 1986 titled, "Cry Wilf." James spent much of the 1990's playing small clubs in London. Hunter's blue eyed soul garnered the attention of Mr. Van Morrison, who appeared on Hunter's first album released on Ace "Believe What I say," in 1996. (Morrison sang backing vocals on "Turn On Your Love Light" and "Ain't Nothing You Can Do.") James' relationship with Van Morrison lead to Hunter touring with Van in the early nineties and sang backing vocals on Morrison's 1994 live album, A Night in San Francisco, and his 1995 studio recording Days Like This. The Ron Toews Family Benefit at Decades Bar and Grill : These pictures are of the fundraiser to benefit Ron Toews and his family held in Carson City at Decades Bar and Grill on August 23rd. It includes photographs of all the cars in the car show (2 versions) and the trophy winners, all the bands that played, plus many shots of attendies having a good time. All proceeds from purchases made from this collection by September 30th will go directly to the Ron Toews Family Fund. GIVE A LITTLE---GET A LITTLE.

Ron was diagnosed with liver failure due to Hepatitis C in July, 2006, and is in need of a new liver. Ron was the main source of income for his family and since his diagnosis, his health has deteriorated to the point that he is no longer able to work, Mikki (Ron’s wife) works but she is unable to work full time since she is needed at home to care for Ron and their son, Jake. Ron is working on financial aid to receive a new liver, Decadesis hoping to raise over $ 60,000 to help offset some of the costs for the Family to travel to California for Ron’s liver transplant as well as pay their mortgage/utilities for as many months as possible

Joe Cocker - one of the truly great rock voices of all time - was born in Sheffield, England on May 20, 1944, the youngest son of a civil servant. In 1961 Joe by day, worked as an apprentice gas fitter and by night, in dark suit and bow tie, became Vance Arnold singing with The Avengers in rough Sheffield pubs. The set included songs by mentor Ray Charles "What'd I Say" and "Georgia On My Mind." Vance Arnold and the Avengers biggest moment came in 1963 when they supported The Rolling Stones at Sheffield City Hall, and brought the house down.

ALLIGATOR AND BAYOU BOOGIE
Alligator was born on the Southwestern Louisiana bayou. His Choctaw Indian, French, African and Spanish lineage manifest itself magnificently in his music. Alligator's performances take you through the backwoods, of yesterday into the bright city lights and sounds of today. He mixes Blues, Zydeco, R&B, Rock & Roll, Ska, Cajun, Jazz, Country, Gospel, Calypso, and Latin sounds into a high energy, danceable, carnival performance, switching between Cajun accordion, guitar, mandolin and fiddle.

Bluez Catz : Here are pictures from two versions of the Bluez Catz. This was my favarite band of buddies I played with in recent years.

Bodie California - A Ghost Town : Here you'll see what's left of Bodie. An original ghost town from the late 1800's. Bodie stands today in a state of "arrested decay". So coined by the State of California when they took over the town in 1962 to make it a State Historic Park.
In 1859 William (a.k.a. Waterman) S. Bodey discovered gold near what is now called Bodie Bluff. A mill was established in 1861 and the town began to grow. It started with about 20 miners and grew to an estimated 10,000 people by 1880! By that time, the town of Bodie bustled with families, robbers, miners, store owners, gunfighters and prostitutes of all kinds. At one time there was reported to be 65 saloons in town. Amongst the saloons were numerous brothels and 'houses of ill repute', gambling halls and opium dens. Needless to say that there was entertainment for every taste.
